Wild land worries over wind farm in Sutherland

Landscape conservation charity the John Muir Trust has objected to plans to construct 43 wind turbines near Ardgay in Sutherland.

The trust said some of the turbines would be close to an area that could be designated wild land in the future.

Developer Wind Energy said the project would not directly impact on wild land.

The company said its Glenmorie wind farm would create work and there would be a community fund with potential to provide £8m over the farm’s lifetime.

If granted planning permission, Wind Energy said the turbines would provide enough electricity to power 90,000 homes.

every week another worry.
